Recover and interrogate remote systems

Potassium Secure remote device signaling

A lightweight recovery and signaling mechanism for administrators who need a controlled way to check, reset or re-open access to remote embedded devices over a reachable IP network.

Recover and interrogate remote systems

A deliberate signal instead of an always-open management service

The Windows-side tool sends a sequenced multi-port datagram pattern. A properly programmed remote device recognizes the sequence and exposes only the specific recovery action associated with it.

Signaling design

  • Multi-port datagram sequence
  • Messages sent to specific ports in a defined order
  • Configurable inter-knock delay increases sequence complexity
  • Message content encrypted and hashed
  • Remote device must already be reachable over IP

Recover and interrogate remote systems

Focused recovery functions

The current toolset concentrates on a small group of administrative actions useful when ordinary management access has been lost.

Supported functions

  • Soft reset
  • Hard reset
  • Open firewall
  • Echo / health response
